Sign ups are now open for the September Van Gogh Themed Yarn Box
New for 2019, Baa Baa Brighouse is celebrating the paintings of post impressionist Dutch Master, Vincent Van Gogh. Each month we will take our inspiration from one of his most famous artworks and produce a hand dyed yarn interpretation. Each yarn box will contain 200g of limited edition British Bluefaced Leicester Baa Baa Brew DK inspired by that month’s painting along with a selection of Vincent inspired extras.
September Van Gogh Yarn Box – Wheatfield With Cypresses
September’s Van Gogh Yarn Box will be based upon ‘Wheatfield With Cypresses’. The painting forms a series of three created in 1889 and were inspired by the view from his window at the asylum in Saint-Remy near Arles where Van Gogh was a voluntary patient. The first is owned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the second is owned by the National Gallery in London and the third is in the hands of a private collector.
Boxes will be available to purchase until Friday September 20th and will be posted out at the end of the month.
Take a look at the product gallery to see January’s Van Gogh Yarn Box which took its inspiration from ‘The Starry Night’, February’s Van Gogh Yarn Box which took its inspiration from ‘Irises’, March’s Van Gogh Yarn Box which was inspired by ‘Sunflowers’, April’s Van Gogh Yarn Box which was based on ‘The Night Cafe’, May’s Van Gogh Yarn Box which was inspired by ‘Wheatfield With Crows’, June’s Van Gogh Yarn Box which was based on ‘Flowering Plum Orchard and July’s Van Gogh Yarn Box which took its inspiration from ‘Almond Blossom’.
Van Gogh considered ‘Wheatfield With Cypresses’ to be one of his best summer paintings. He told his brother, Theo: “I have a canvas of cypresses with some ears of wheat, some poppies, a blue sky like a piece of Scotch plaid.”
