Here at Baa Baa Brighouse we have always been very conscious of the impact our business has on the environment and have sought to reduce waste wherever possible.

Currently the boxes we use for our Monthly Themed Yarn Boxes, Birthstone Yarn Boxes, Special Occasion Yarn Boxes, Baa Baa Brighouse Gift Boxes and Baa Baa Brew Mini Skein Boxes are all made from a natural source and are fully recyclable. The same boxes are also used for our Yan Tan Tethera Yarn Club.

Similarly, the tags which we use on our own range of yarns, boxes and wrapped parcels are made from recycled material and can be recycled upon receipt by the customer along with cardboard and paper.

If you have visited us at shows, you will know that we have always used brown paper bags bearing our logo to pack your purchases in. Again, these are fully recyclable.

The backing cards we use on our Baa Baa Brighouse Stitch Markers and similar small items are also fully recyclable and we know that many of our customers reuse the satin ribbon that we use to tie our swing tags on to our yarns and to package up our boxes and parcels.

However, with the current challenges facing the planet regarding plastic waste which is sent to landfill or finds its way into our oceans, we have decided to look again at the way some of our products are packaged to see where further improvements can be made.

We have decided to ditch the clear plastic bags used on our Baa Baa Brighouse Stitch Markers and Baa Baa Brighouse Earrings when current stocks run out. Instead, orders for these will be placed in reusable organza gift bags.

In due course, we will also be upgrading our current plastic mailing bags to biodegradable ones and in future will be using paper tape for larger boxes rather than brown plastic packing tape.

We will also no longer be using plastic bubble wrap but instead will use a recyclable filler where necessary.

We plan to speak to all the mills we currently work with to see how we can further reduce our plastic waste together and will continually monitor, review and improve the situation to ensure we are as eco-friendly as we possibly can be.
